Despite your affection for makeup, you are not quite sure how to apply foundation and powder correctly. Since these are essentials, learning the basics is quite important.

Choosing the Right Products

Before you can apply the products correctly, you need to be sure that you have the right ones on-hand. Going to a store where you can actually try the foundation and powder on is most advisable. Otherwise, you could end up with colors that are not right for you. Colors that are too dark can actually make your face look dirty or over-tanned. Selecting shades that are too light might mean that you do not receive any coverage at all.

Selecting the Right Application Tools

Now that you have the foundation and loose powder in your hands, you must also obtain the right tools with which to apply them. Generally, opting for less expensive brushes is fine, and you can still obtain a flawless look with them. A big powder brush works best for your powder application as it helps to ensure an even distribution. This can also be used as a blending tool. As far as the foundation, you have a couple of different options. Wedge-shaped sponges tend to work well, and we will discuss the use of fingers for application in the next section.
